Description
The 2017 Hooper's Colheita Port is a single-vintage tawny port from Portugal's Douro Valley. "Colheita" refers to a tawny port made from grapes harvested in a specific year and aged in wooden casks for a minimum of seven years before bottling.
Tasting Notes: Deep tawny-amber in colour with golden highlights. The nose is elegant and expressive, showing layered aromas of dried fig, toasted almond, walnut, orange peel, and caramelised sugar, with subtle hints of vanilla and spice from extended oak ageing. On the palate it is smooth and refined, offering flavours of raisins, dates, butterscotch, and roasted nuts, balanced by fresh acidity that lifts the natural sweetness. The finish is long, warm, and gently nutty, with lingering notes of toffee and citrus zest.
Serving Suggestions: Best enjoyed slightly chilled, between 12°C and 16°C. It pairs well with desserts like almond tart, crème brûlée, or dark chocolate, and complements aged cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort. Alternatively, it can be savored on its own as a dessert wine.
Storage: Store the bottle upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep it refrigerated and consume within a few weeks to maintain optimal flavor
