Description
1961 Kopke Colheita Port
Just 12 bottles allocated to the UK in 2026.
The 1961 Kopke Colheita Port is a rare and highly individual wine, drawn from a single harvest and matured for more than six decades in seasoned oak casks before bottling. Such extended ageing has shaped it into a Port of remarkable poise and complexity, showcasing Kopke’s historic expertise in long cask maturation.
Tasting Notes:
Deep amber-mahogany in colour with olive-green highlights at the rim, the nose is intensely aromatic and layered. Aromas of dried fig, date and sultana intertwine with walnut, orange peel and warm spice, alongside delicate notes of polished wood and subtle caramel. On the palate it is silky and seamless, with extraordinary concentration balanced by vibrant acidity. Flavours of candied citrus, toasted nuts and dried fruits unfold gradually, leading to a long, persistent and finely textured finish.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve lightly chilled to enhance freshness and aromatic precision. A natural partner to crème brûlée, almond tart or mature hard cheeses, though equally compelling when enjoyed slowly on its own.
Summary:
Bottled in extremely limited quantities, this is a true collector’s Colheita — a wine that speaks quietly of age, precision and patience, and one of the most distinctive expressions of Kopke’s long cask-ageing tradition.
