Description

Appearance & Nose
The colour shows a beautifully evolved tawny hue, with amber and mahogany reflections at the rim, signalling its extended time in wood. The nose is immediately expressive and layered, opening with dried figs, dates, and orange peel, followed by toasted walnuts, almond, and hints of caramelised sugar. Secondary notes of spice, old wood, and a delicate balsamic lift add further intrigue, while a gentle rancio character brings depth and authenticity.

Palate & Texture
On the palate, the wine is silky and refined, with flavours of dried fruits—fig, apricot, and raisin—interwoven with notes of toffee, roasted nuts, and subtle spice. The long cask ageing has polished the texture to a seamless smoothness, while a vibrant line of acidity keeps the richness in check. The balance between sweetness and freshness is precise, leading to a lingering finish marked by nutty complexity and a touch of citrus peel.

Maturity & Drinking Window
Fully matured in cask before bottling, this Colheita is ready to drink upon release and does not require further ageing in bottle. Thanks to its oxidative development, it remains stable once opened and can be enjoyed over several weeks if properly stored. It is drinking at peak now, offering the full expression of its aged character.

Food Pairing & Serving Suggestions
Serve slightly chilled (around 12–14 °C) to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Ideal with nut-based desserts, crème brûlée, dried fruit tarts, or aged cheeses. It also excels as a contemplative after-dinner wine on its own.
