La Spinetta, 2017 Barolo “Vigneto Garretti”

A powerful and expressive Barolo from the renowned Garretti vineyard in Grinzane Cavour, the 2017 Vigneto Garretti showcases Nebbiolo with intensity, structure and depth in La Spinetta’s distinctive style.

Tasting Note
The nose is bold and aromatic, offering ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, layered with rose petal, liquorice, tar and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with vibrant acidity supporting flavours of crimson fruit, dried herbs and mineral earthiness. Firm, fine-grained tannins provide grip and drive, leading to a long, savoury and persistent finish.

Food Pairing
An excellent match for slow-braised beef, venison, game dishes, truffle-rich recipes and aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno.

Serving & Cellaring
Serve at 16–18°C. Decant for 2–3 hours before drinking. Drinking well now with air, and will cellar confidently for 15–20 years.

"Lots of dried roses with stems to the strawberry and cherry character. It’s full-bodied and chewy with lots of fruit and wood tannins that pucker your mouth now. But it should come around nicely with bottle age. Try after 2023."
