Maynard’s 1976 Colheita Port
A superb mature Colheita Port from the 1976 vintage, aged for many decades in seasoned oak casks before bottling. This long maturation has produced a beautifully balanced Tawny Port with remarkable depth, elegance and freshness.

Now approaching fifty years of age, the wine shows the extraordinary character that only extended cask ageing can create. Rich, complex and wonderfully refined, it is a classic example of the traditional Colheita style.

Tasting Notes
Deep amber-tawny in colour with subtle olive-green hints at the rim, a hallmark of long barrel ageing. The nose is expressive and complex with aromas of dried fruits, roasted nuts and orange marmalade alongside notes of caramel, vanilla and gentle spice.

On the palate the wine is silky and harmonious with flavours of fig, walnut, dates and toasted almonds balanced by vibrant acidity. The finish is long, elegant and persistent with lingering notes of citrus peel and spice.

The Colheita Style
Colheita Ports are single-vintage Tawny Ports that mature in oak casks for many years before bottling. This slow ageing allows the wine to gradually develop its distinctive amber colour and complex flavours of dried fruit, nuts and spice. Once bottled, Colheita Ports are ready to drink and do not require decanting.

Serving Suggestions
Serve lightly chilled to highlight the wine’s freshness and aromatics. It pairs beautifully with nut-based desserts, crème brûlée, pecan pie or mature cheeses, and is equally enjoyable on its own as a contemplative after-dinner drink.
