Description
This mature Montepulciano d’Abruzzo comes from Cantina Madonna dei Miracoli, a historic cooperative founded in 1960 in the rolling vineyards of Casalbordino that has long championed Montepulciano grapes from the DOC’s well‑suited soils and warm Adriatic‑influenced climate. Over decades, the wine has developed a deep garnet‑red colour with brick highlights, a testament to graceful ageing and structural harmony.
On the nose, it offers layered aromas of dried black cherries, plum, gentle spice, and subtle notes of leather and earth. The palate is smooth and balanced, with softened tannins carrying rich flavours of stewed dark fruits, hints of cocoa, dried herbs, and a touch of Mediterranean warmth. The finish is long, elegant, and refined, showcasing both depth and the classic character of a fully mature Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Decanting: Stand the bottle upright for 2–3 days prior to opening to allow any sediment to settle. Decant slowly and carefully through a fine strainer, allowing 1–2 hours of gentle aeration before serving at 16–18°C. A fragile cork is very common with older bottles, where the wine has been in prolonged contact with the cork over many decades. We therefore recommend straining any cork fragments during the decanting process.
