Description
The 1990 Palmer Port Colheita is a rare single-harvest Tawny Port, aged for over three decades in seasoned oak casks to showcase the remarkable depth and maturity of the 1990 vintage. Rich, elegant and beautifully evolved, it offers a unique opportunity to experience a fully mature Colheita of outstanding quality. Perfect for collectors or for celebrating special occasions. Drink now or enjoy until 2030+.
Tasting Notes:
Deep amber-tawny with golden reflections. The bouquet is complex and inviting, with aromas of dried figs, dates, caramelised nuts, candied orange peel and sweet spice. On the palate, layers of toffee, raisin, roasted almond and subtle hints of coffee mingle with refreshing acidity that lifts the richness. The finish is long, nutty and lingering, with echoes of dried fruit and warm oak.
Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to enjoy and require no decanting. Best served slightly chilled (12–14°C) to bring out freshness and aromatic complexity. This 1990 Colheita is a fine match for crème brûlée, pecan tart, almond desserts or a board of mature cheeses. Once opened, the wine will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.
Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.
