  • Description

The Quinta da Devesa 80 Year Old White Port is an extraordinary testament to the longevity and grace of white port, offering a profound glimpse into a century of patient ageing and artisanal dedication. A blend of exceptionally rare and ancient white ports aged in seasoned oak casks for an average of eight decades, this release reflects the pinnacle of Quinta da Devesa’s slow-oxidative philosophy and their mastery in curating old stocks of singular quality.

Composed from traditional Douro white grape varieties such as Côdega, Viosinho, Rabigato, and Gouveio, this wine has evolved over time into a layered and deeply complex expression. In the glass, it displays a deep amber-gold hue with greenish glints—a visual hallmark of extended ageing. The nose is intensely aromatic and ever-changing, opening with notes of preserved lemon, beeswax, dried pineapple, and orange blossom, then unfolding into layers of antique wood, spice box, bergamot, and salted caramel.

The palate is incredibly concentrated yet finely poised, with a rich, velvety texture and a vibrant thread of acidity that carries the immense depth of flavour. Dried apricot, almond brittle, lemon oil, and roasted hazelnut are seamlessly woven together, alongside hints of iodine, saffron, and warm spice. The finish is astonishingly long and graceful, marked by notes of citrus peel, honeycomb, and a whisper of sea spray, all lingering with delicate finesse.

This is not merely a wine—it is a living artefact. Each sip conveys the quiet grandeur that only time can bestow, offering an experience of rare beauty and serenity. Bottled in limited quantities, it stands as one of the most distinguished old white ports ever released, suitable for the most discerning collector or those seeking a singular vinous treasure.

Best served slightly chilled (10–12°C), this wine is exquisite on its own, but also pairs elegantly with foie gras, aged cheeses, salted almonds, or citrus-accented desserts such as tarte au citron or orange polenta cake. Thanks to its oxidative nature, the wine remains stable for several months after opening if stored correctly.

The Quinta da Devesa 80 Year Old White Port is a monumental expression of heritage, patience, and timeless elegance—a celebration of what white port can become when given a lifetime to evolve.
