Description
López de Heredia Viña Bosconia Reserva 1993 – Rioja
The 1993 Viña Bosconia Reserva from López de Heredia is a beautifully mature and classically styled Rioja, showing the unmistakable character of one of Spain’s most traditional producers. The colour has softened to a clear garnet with brick-orange tones at the rim, reflecting its graceful development.
The nose is refined, delicate and wonderfully complex. Aromas of dried cherry, redcurrant and plum are layered with leather, tobacco, forest floor, vanilla and subtle coconut from long ageing in American oak. Notes of dried herbs, orange peel and gentle spice add further nuance and authenticity.
On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied, silky and beautifully balanced. The tannins are fully resolved, creating a smooth, refined texture, while flavours of dried red fruits, tea leaf, savoury spice and gentle oak sweetness unfold with clarity. Fresh acidity gives the wine lift and keeps it lively despite its age.
The finish is elegant, calm and quietly persistent, leaving lingering impressions of dried fruit, leather, vanilla and soft spice. This is a Rioja that rewards slow, thoughtful appreciation.
This mature Bosconia Reserva pairs beautifully with roast lamb, pork, grilled chicken, mushroom dishes, classic Spanish stews and aged Manchego or other semi-hard cheeses.
A graceful, fully mature Rioja offering subtle complexity, balance and timeless charm. The 1993 López de Heredia Viña Bosconia Reserva is a fine example of traditional Rioja ageing with dignity, harmony and gentle beauty.
