1986 Riveyac – Rivesaltes VDN
Produced in the warm Mediterranean vineyards of Roussillon, the 1986 Riveyac Rivesaltes is a traditional Vin Doux Naturel, fortified during fermentation to preserve natural sweetness and then matured slowly to develop depth and complexity. Domaine Riveyac follows classic regional methods, allowing extended ageing to shape the wine’s character while retaining freshness and balance.
Tasting Notes:
Bright amber in colour with copper highlights, the nose is inviting and layered, showing aromas of dried apricot, sultana and orange peel intertwined with notes of toasted almond, caramel and soft baking spice. On the palate it is smooth and harmonious, with flavours of candied citrus, fig and honeyed nuts supported by a lively thread of acidity. The sweetness is balanced rather than heavy, leading to a long, warming and gently oxidative finish with lingering notes of toffee and dried fruit.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Best served lightly chilled to enhance freshness and aromatic lift. A natural partner to fruit tarts, crème caramel, blue cheeses or pâté, though equally enjoyable on its own as a comforting after-dinner wine.
