The 1982 vintage in the Douro was marked by a warm growing season that produced ripe, generous fruit and approachable structure. While not universally declared across all houses, several producers released impressive Vintage Ports showing depth and early accessibility. Royal Oporto, one of the historic names in the region with roots dating back to the 18th century, crafted a wine reflecting the house’s traditional style and careful maturation.

Royal Oporto Vintage Ports are known for their balance between richness and elegance, offering expressive fruit supported by firm yet refined tannins.

Tasting Notes:
Now deep ruby with garnet tones at the rim, the nose is mature and inviting. Aromas of black cherry, plum and dried fig are layered with notes of dark chocolate, spice and a hint of tobacco. With time in the glass, subtle nuances of leather and cedar emerge. On the palate it is full-bodied yet harmonious, with softened tannins and a rounded texture shaped by decades of bottle ageing. Flavours of dark fruits, cocoa and gentle spice unfold gradually, leading to a smooth, warming and persistent finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove natural sediment and allow the wine to breathe before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A classic companion to blue cheeses, walnut desserts or dark chocolate, though equally satisfying enjoyed on its own.
