Description
Crafted on the Greek island of Samos from the noble Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, Anthemis is the flagship sweet wine of the island’s historic cooperative. The 2002 vintage spent five full years maturing in oak barrels, developing deep, layered complexity. This style, known for its richness and longevity, showcases the best of Samos’ sun-drenched terraced vineyards and centuries-old winemaking tradition.
Deep amber to tawny gold in colour with orange-bronze hues and clear viscosity.
Powerful and complex aromas leap from the glass — caramelized apricot, honeycomb, and orange zest, layered with toffee, vanilla, walnut skin, and subtle oxidative notes. Hints of tobacco leaf, burnt sugar, and dried Mediterranean herbs give extra dimension.
Lusciously sweet but well-balanced by bright Muscat acidity. Flavours mirror the nose: dried figs, stewed quince, roasted almonds, clove, and molasses glide across the palate. Long, elegant finish with echoes of hazelnut praline and citrus peel.
Serve lightly chilled 12–14 °C.
