Description
Taylor’s Vintage Port 1963
The 1963 Taylor’s is one of the greatest Vintage Ports ever produced — a benchmark of the house’s style and a legend of the 20th century. Declared after an ideal growing season and perfectly timed harvest, it exemplifies Taylor’s hallmark structure, purity, and longevity.
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet core fading to amber at the rim. The nose is magnificent: lifted aromas of violets, cassis, cedar, dried cherry, and warm spice mingle with notes of cigar box and old rose. Decades of ageing have woven these elements into seamless harmony.
On the palate, it remains vibrant and poised, combining richness with remarkable freshness. Layers of dark fruit, fig, plum, and mocha unfold against firm yet polished tannins. The finish is endless, resonating with sweet spice and dried fruit complexity.
Even after sixty years, the 1963 Taylor’s still displays extraordinary vitality — a reminder of the estate’s mastery of balanced power. It continues to evolve gracefully and will reward careful decanting and contemplative enjoyment.
A truly monumental vintage, the 1963 stands among the finest Ports ever made and defines what makes Taylor’s one of the most revered names in the Douro.
