Armagnac Nisimes Delclou, 1939

New

Armagnac

A superb 1939 Armagnac that makes an ideal gift for someone born in 1939 and a superb anniversary gift. The palate is very rich, filled with aromas of macerated white fruits and leather.

J. Nismes-Delclou is the oldest firm producing Armagnac, having been established in 1832 by Baron Hausmann. It boasts an exceptional collection of vintage Armagnacs, with more than forty authenticated vintages - the oldest dating from 1881 - crafted from the best products of the Bas Armagnac region and matured in cellars more than a hundred years old. Long ageing in old casks has made this into an incredibly velvety Armagnac, full of seductive notes of violets and cinammon, caramel and dried stone fruits.

Baron de Lustrac, 1939

Vintage Armagnac

Special Order please allow 10 days for delivery.

Baron de Lustrac is a small traditional éleveur specialising in fine old Armagnac vintages. Their extensive range is sourced from neighbouring estates in the Tenereze and Mas Armagnac regions and they keep an ageing and bottling chais near Magnan, in the Bas Armagnac region.

All Armagnacs are aged in 420ltr oak barrels and sold as single vintages. The grapes used are all harvested from the one particular year, and will only be distilled if the conditions were particularly good. Perfect for big birthdays or as a special drink for the connoisseur as they truly are a fine example of the very best Armagnacs around.

Massandra, 1939

Masandra Red Port Sotherbys Massandra Collection (Includes Original Box as illustrated)

Sotherbys Massandra Collection

The wineries in Massandra were built during the reign of Czar Nicholas II. During the process, wine caves containing thousands of bottles were constructed beneath the city. This “personal wine cellar” of the Czar contained tens of thousands of bottles. These caves survived the Russian Revolution, both World Wars, the fall of Communism, and Yakov Smirnoff. In 1990, about 13,000 of these bottles – never before available in the West – were put to auction

Rioja, 1939

AGE Bodegas Unidas Siglo Saco Rosso

Madeirised, with tons of warm balsamic vinager tones along with a good dose of undergrowth and little tendrils of smoke and dried mulberry scents. It took almost half-an-hour to open up slightly, with the funky smells blowing away a little to show a light layer of dried flowers and raisins. Amazingly though, the palate was a lot fresher and more alive than the nose would have you believe. Here, silky tannins and a decent amount of acidity still held up yummy flavours of dried cherries and cranberries, with a savoury, almost salty undercurrant of loamy earth and preserved meats. The finish was still lively, almost juicy, with a slightly sandy kiss of tannins running up and down its considerable length.
