The 2020 vintage was undoubtedly one of the most challenging in recent history. The Covid pandemic that began in 2019 continued to ravage 2020 with everything from picking, tastings and ultimately sales affected.

Bordeaux: The 2020 Bordeaux vintage is widely regarded as very good to excellent. A hot, dry growing season produced healthy, fully ripe grapes, resulting in reds with rich fruit, good structure and balanced tannins. Whites show freshness and aromatic purity. Overall, 2020 Bordeaux wines are approachable young but also capable of ageing, making this a very solid year across many appellations
Douro Wines: In the Douro Valley, 2020 produced high‑quality wines with excellent concentration. Warm conditions and careful vineyard management gave reds intense fruit, firm structure and well‑balanced acidity, while whites are expressive and vibrant. Overall, 2020 Douro wines are energetic, structured and very enjoyable, with both early appeal and capacity to age.
Italian: The 2020 Italian vintage delivered excellent quality in many regions. Good weather patterns helped grapes achieve balanced ripeness with lively acidity, leading to wines that are flavourful, well‑structured and appealing. Reds from classic regions like Tuscany and Piedmont show depth and refinement, and whites are bright and expressive. Overall, 2020 Italy is a strong, dependable vintage.
Portugal: The 2020 Port vintage is considered very good and widely declared by top houses. Dry, warm conditions led to intense, concentrated grapes, and the resulting Vintage Ports show rich dark fruit, firm tannins and great ageing potential. These wines are classic in style, combining power with freshness, and are likely to develop beautifully over time.
