Graham's Port, 1970
Vintage Port
The 1970 Graham's Vintage Port is a classic and one of the most iconic wines produced by the house of Graham’s. The 1970 vintage is renowned as one of the best of the 20th century for Port wines, and Graham's expression of this year is particularly exceptional for its richness and longevity.
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby color with a slight garnet edge, showing signs of maturity but still remarkably vibrant. Nose: A highly aromatic nose of ripe black fruits, such as blackcurrants and black cherries, intermingled with secondary notes of figs, prunes, and dates. Graham's Port, 1970
Vintage Port bottled for Army and Navy Stores
Labels bin soiled
Excellent provenance
*** 93 Points (Parker) ***
"...a definite Bordeaux-like nose! Well defined, foursquare at first, opening up nicely with maraschino cherries, cloves, burnt wood/embers and bergamot, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is very harmonious and elegant. Fleshy, harmonious, seductive on the palate with allspice, nutmeg and ginger sprinkled over the viscous finish and finally, freshly rolled tobacco on the aftertaste. Good length, powerful like many of the 1970 ports continue to be. Superb. Drink now-2020+ Neil Martin Wine Journal Tasted September 2009.
"The 1970 is a monumental vintage port and one of the greats of the vintage. …

Quinta do Noval, 1970
Vintage Port Plain Labels
The 1970 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is a beautiful Port in a perfect drinking window. It is graceful and complex and a wonderful gift for any 50th birthday or Anniversary. The huge nose of liquorice, smoke, jammy black-cherry and cassis fruit is followed by a wine of seamless components, all super-packed with gorgeously pure fruit, yet the wine is not heavy or overbearing. There is a real sense of elegance to this Quinta do Noval. This port is fully mature drinking perfectly and will continue to evolve for another 20 or more years.

Quinta do Noval Nacional, 1970
Vintage Port Stencil damaged
Quinta do Noval Nacional is undoubtedly one of the most legendary fortified wines in the world. It is produced from a small area at the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard planted with ungrafted vines that have remained untouched by Phylloxera
Another amazing bottle! Still very concentrated and vibrant. Layers and layers of complexity becoming perceptible... Concentrated cherry juice, dried raisins, confit fruits.
Robert Parker 96 Points.
The 1970 Nacional remains a young, unevolved wine, as well as the lightest and least intense of the 1970, 1963 and 1962. That is not to suggest it is a wimpish wine as it is a powerful vintage port, but it is unbelievably graceful, youthful, and complex. …

From the outstanding 1970 vintage, the Ramos Pinto is a beautiful port. Excellent colour with a little red. On the nose jammy strawberries, spice, a hint of pepper and liquorice. Vintage Port Excellent Levels
The 1970 Taylor's Vintage Port is a consistently high performer and rated as one of the best of the 1970 ports.
99 points Wine Enthusiast
This wine's dark garnet color with minimal bricking suggests a relatively youthful wine and this certainly could age longer, although it's also delicious now. Wonderfully complex floral and herbal scents easily move into deep, rich flavors of chocolate and cherries, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Douro minerality and spice. Drink or hold. (JC) (2/2007)

Colheita Single Harvest Port
Includes Taylor's oak gift case
Taylor’s has an extensive and enviable library of very old Ports and each year they release a 50 year old Single Harvest Port which represents the cream of their aged reserves.
Often referred to as Colheitas, these single harvest Tawny ports are a far cry from vintage port with very slow and gentle ageing in oak casks creating ports of extreme aromatic complexity with delightfully mellow structure. And the 1970 Port vintage was of one outstanding quality - ideal growing conditions produced what is now a classic vintage - universally declared by all the major port houses.
