Description
2008 Burmester Colheita Port
Single Harvest Tawny Port – Bottled 2023
The 2008 Burmester Colheita is a beautifully matured single-harvest Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks for 15 years before bottling. It offers a fine expression of Burmester’s elegant and refined house style, balancing richness with freshness.
Tasting Notes:
Amber-gold in colour with a bright rim. The nose opens with layers of dried apricot, orange peel, toasted almonds, and soft vanilla. On the palate, it is smooth and well-integrated, showing notes of caramelised nuts, fig, and butterscotch, with a lingering touch of spice and citrus zest. The long cask ageing gives it depth and complexity while retaining remarkable finesse.
Food Pairing:
Perfect alongside crème brûlée, nut-based desserts, or a good wedge of aged hard cheese like Manchego or Comté. It also makes a luxurious companion to salted almonds or dried fruits.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) in a white wine glass to enhance its aromas and silky texture.
Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months. Best served at a temperature between 14 and 16°C.
