Description

The 1965 Barolo from Bertolino is a fascinating relic from a classic era of Piedmont winemaking, showcasing the old-world charm of traditional Nebbiolo. Bertolino, a lesser-known but regionally respected producer at the time, crafted wines in the customary fashion—extended skin contact, aging in large neutral oak, and a focus on structure and longevity rather than fruit-forward immediacy.

In appearance, the wine would present a light garnet color with orange-brick hues at the rim, revealing its advanced age and maturity. The bouquet is likely ethereal and nuanced, offering notes of dried rose petals, leather, old wood, and earthy forest floor. Subtle aromas of dried cherry, tar, and balsamic undertones may emerge with time in the glass, creating a deeply aromatic and layered experience.
