A 1965 Barolo from F.lli Alessandria is a rare and remarkable example of traditional Barolo, reflecting both the winemaking practices of the time and the aging potential of Nebbiolo. After nearly six decades, the wine would have developed a deep, complex character, dominated by tertiary flavours and aromas.
This wine would be best enjoyed slowly, savouring each sip to fully appreciate the intricate flavours and aromas that have evolved over time.
Carefully decant to remove sediment, but do so gently to avoid overexposure to air. Serve in large glasses to allow the wine to breathe and fully express its aromas. Pairing it with aged cheeses, truffle-based dishes, or roasted meats would complement its complexity, though it can also be enjoyed on its own to fully appreciate its delicate and nuanced character.
