Description

Barolo DOC 1965 Marchesi di Barolo is a historic red wine from Piedmont, Italy, produced in the Langhe area by the estate Marchesi di Barolo. It is made exclusively from Nebbiolo, vinified in a traditional style with long maceration, aging in large Slavonian oak casks, and extended bottle maturation aimed at very slow evolution over decades.

This 1965 bottling reflects the classic Barolo profile of the era: structured at release, then gradually transformed in bottle into a tertiary-driven wine marked by finesse, austerity, and aromatic depth.

Tasting Notes:
Brick-garnet color with deep amber and orange reflections. Dried cherry, rose petals, dried plum, leather, tobacco, and forest floor. Subtle tar, licorice, and earthy spice.
Medium body, fully softened tannins, still-present acidity. Long, elegant, fading finish with complex tertiary notes.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at 16–18°C, with very gentle decanting if needed.

Pairs with braised meats, game, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, polenta, and aged cheeses.

Producer:
Marchesi di Barolo is one of the historic reference estates of Piedmont, founded in the 19th century and closely tied to the origins of Barolo, known for traditional long-aging Nebbiolo and classic cellar practices.
