Description
The Barolo DOC 1976 Marchesi di Barolo 75 cl 13% is a traditional red wine from Piedmont, Italy. Produced under the Barolo DOC in the area of Barolo and bottled by Marchesi di Barolo, it is 100% Nebbiolo in a classic, structured style built for long aging.
Tasting notes:
Now fully mature and past its peak, it shows classic aged Barolo characteristics. The nose offers dried rose, leather, tobacco, dried cherry, and earthy notes like truffle and forest floor, with possible balsamic or slightly oxidative tones depending on storage.
On the palate it is light, delicate, and fully evolved. Acidity is still present but soft, tannins are resolved, and fruit has turned into dried, savory notes. The finish is medium-short with earthy and floral hints.
Serving & food pairing:
Best served at 15–17°C if well preserved. Minimal decanting only for sediment.
It pairs with:
Braised meats and game
Mushroom dishes
Aged cheeses (Castelmagno, toma)
Traditional Piedmont cuisine
Producer:
Marchesi di Barolo is one of the historic producers of the region, known for helping establish Barolo’s reputation as a structured, age-worthy wine made from Nebbiolo grown in the Langhe area.
