Description
The Barolo DOC 1976 Poderi Scanavino 75 cl 13% is a traditional red wine from Piedmont, Italy. Produced under the Barolo DOC in the area of Barolo and bottled by Poderi Scanavino, it is 100% Nebbiolo in a classic, structured style focused on longevity and tannic backbone.
Tasting notes:
Now fully mature and beyond peak, it shows classic aged Barolo character. The nose offers dried rose, leather, tobacco, dried cherry, and earthy notes like truffle and forest floor, with possible balsamic or lightly oxidative hints depending on storage.
On the palate it is light, soft, and fully evolved. Acidity is gentle but still present, tannins are resolved, and fruit has shifted into dried, savory tones. Finish is medium-short, earthy and floral.
Serving & food pairing:
Best served at 15–17°C if well preserved. Minimal decanting only for sediment.
It pairs with:
Braised meats and game
Mushroom-based dishes
Aged cheeses (Castelmagno, toma)
Traditional Piedmont cuisine
Producer:
Poderi Scanavino is a Piedmont producer associated with Langhe wines, including Barolo. This bottling reflects the traditional style of the 1970s, before modern winemaking techniques and strict estate-focused bottling became widespread.
