Description
The 1980 Barolo DOCG “Monfalletto” by Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo is a traditional Nebbiolo from the Langhe, produced from one of La Morra’s most respected vineyards, known for combining structure with elegance.
Tasting Notes: Now well matured, it likely shows aromas of dried rose petals, red cherry, and orange peel, with tertiary layers of leather, tobacco, truffle, and earthy forest-floor notes. On the palate it is expected to be refined and harmonious, with softened but still present tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, elegant finish shaped by decades of bottle evolution.
Serving & Food Pairing: Best served at 16–18°C, ideally after careful decanting to remove sediment and allow the aromas to open gradually. It pairs beautifully with braised meats, game, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses.
Producer: Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo is a historic estate in La Morra, part of the Barolo appellation, recognized for producing refined, terroir-driven Nebbiolo wines with a balance of power and finesse.
