Description
1985 Barolo – Marchesi di Barolo
Vintage & Producer
Marchesi di Barolo is one of the historic names of the region, based in the town of Barolo itself and tracing its origins back to the early 19th century. The estate helped define the classic style of Barolo—long ageing in large oak casks and wines built for elegance and longevity. The 1985 vintage was exceptional across Piedmont, producing ripe, structured wines with great balance and depth that have aged gracefully.
Tasting Note
Now fully mature, this 1985 Barolo shows a warm brick-garnet colour with orange hues at the rim. The bouquet is lifted and complex, showing notes of dried cherry, rose petals, truffle, and cedar spice. The palate is refined and harmonious, with flavours of dried red fruit, tobacco, and earthy mineral tones. The tannins have softened beautifully, leaving a long, savoury finish that highlights the pedigree of both producer and vintage.
Condition & Drinkability
At full maturity; best enjoyed now. Decant gently before serving to remove sediment.
