Description

2003 Le Volte dell’Ornellaia

Overview:
Produced by the renowned Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in Bolgheri, the 2003 Le Volte reflects the generous, ripe character of this notably warm Tuscan vintage. Crafted in a supple and approachable style, it combines the richness of Mediterranean fruit with the polish and balance associated with the Ornellaia estate.

Appearance:
Deep ruby-red in colour with youthful garnet reflections, showing excellent concentration and maturity.

Nose:
Intensely aromatic and expressive, revealing layers of ripe black cherry, plum and dark berry fruits alongside notes of sweet spice, cedar and subtle Mediterranean herbs. Hints of cocoa, vanilla and warm earth emerge with aeration, adding depth and complexity.

Palate:
Broad, round and generous in texture, with smooth, integrated tannins and a rich core of ripe dark fruits. The palate is supple and harmonious, offering flavours of black cherry, plum compote and gentle spice supported by subtle oak influence and savoury Tuscan nuance. Despite the warmth of the vintage, the wine retains balance and refinement throughout.

Finish:
Long, velvety and persistent, lingering through dark fruits, spice and soft earthy notes.

About the Estate:
Tenuta dell’Ornellaia is one of Bolgheri’s most celebrated estates, internationally recognised for producing some of Tuscany’s most prestigious Super Tuscan wines. Established in the early 1980s, the estate combines Bordeaux-inspired varietals with the distinctive coastal terroir of Bolgheri, creating wines renowned for their richness, elegance and ageing potential.
