1961 Bonarda – Vini Pregiati Sizzano e Ghemme Riserva

The 1961 vintage is remembered as one of the standout years in Piedmont, producing structured and long-lived wines across the region. This Riserva bottling from Vini Pregiati Sizzano e Ghemme reflects a traditional style of northern Piedmont winemaking, where extended ageing and careful cellar maturation were integral to the character of the wine.

Tasting Notes:
Now brick-garnet in colour with amber highlights at the rim, the nose is mature and savoury. Aromas of dried red cherry, plum and rose petal are layered with notes of leather, tobacco leaf and forest floor. With time in the glass, hints of truffle, dried herbs and subtle spice emerge. On the palate it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with softened tannins and a gentle line of acidity that preserves freshness. Flavours of dried berry fruits, savoury earth and light balsamic tones unfold gradually, leading to a warm, elegant and persistent finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove any natural sediment and allow the wine to open fully before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A fine accompaniment to braised meats, mushroom dishes or mature hard cheeses.
