Description
Only a tiny quantity of Burmester Quinta do Arnozelo Vintage was produced in 2018, using the best grapes from the harvest. Vintage ports like this one are designed for long-term aging and can improve over decades. You can enjoy it now for its youthful fruit intensity, but it will develop more complexity and depth with time.
Tasting Notes:
The 2018 Burmester Vintage port is elegant, aromatic and of great finesse. You should expect floral aromas and flavours of blackberry, black cherry, plum with raisins, figs, chocolate and cinnamon spice. The 2018 vintage is generally known for its balanced structure, intense flavour, and smooth tannins. A wine that is the reflection of the Quinta do Arnozelo's exceptional terroir.
Serving and Food pairing
Vintage Ports are best decanted and served slightly below modern room temperature: 16° to 18° C. Pair it with chocolate-rich desserts – such as chocolate fondant with redcurrant coulis or dark chocolate mousse. Goes very well with an intense-flavoured cheeses, like Queijo da Serra, or blue cheeses (Stilton, Roquefort). Drink from 2024-2050+

Reviews
The 2018 Burmester Vintage Port has garnered strong reviews and awards from critics. Here are some highlights:
***90 Points - Wine Advocate Mark Squire Oct 2020***
The 2018 Vintage Port Quinta do Arnozelo, a single-quinta Port, is an equal blend of Touriga Nacional (50%) and Touriga Franca (50%) in a field blend, coming in with 112 grams per liter of residual sugar. This was just bottled in June. Sappy and soft on opening, this tastes great, with ripe fruit and a jammy finish. However, it does improve with aeration, acquiring a little more finesse and pop on the finish. It becomes balanced, sensually textured and lovely after a couple of days open—and it drinks pretty well.
It may hold for a couple of decades, but I doubt that cellaring this a long time will provide many rewards, but we'll see. In the meanwhile, this graceful and accessible Port is quite lovely this year. Despite being very approachable, it still has a chance to improve. There were 6,405 bottles produced.
