Description

Only a tiny quantity of Burmester Quinta do Arnozelo Vintage was produced in 2018, using the best grapes from the harvest. This category is increasingly becoming a classic of the Burmester Port house. VWP are Exclusive UK stockists for the 2018 Burmester Vintage Port.

Tasting Notes:
The 2018 Burmester Vintage port is elegant, aromatic and of great finesse. You should expect aromas and flavours of blackberry and black cherry with raisins, figs and chocolate. A wine that is the reflection of Casa Burmester's character and of the Quinta do Arnozelo's exceptional terroir.

Serving Tips & Storage:
When mature this port will need to be decanted to remove sediment. Serve at room temperature on its own or with steak and blue cheese sauce or vintage mature blue cheeses such as stilton Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Augur Blue. Vintage port is also good with chocolate - a flattering accompaniment to top quality hand-made chocolates and artisan chocolate bars.
Please store on its side in a cool environment away from heat and light.

***90 Points - Wine Advocate Mark Squire Oct 2020***

The 2018 Vintage Port Quinta do Arnozelo, a single-quinta Port, is an equal blend of Touriga Nacional (50%) and Touriga Franca (50%) in a field blend, coming in with 112 grams per liter of residual sugar. This was just bottled in June. Sappy and soft on opening, this tastes great, with ripe fruit and a jammy finish. However, it does improve with aeration, acquiring a little more finesse and pop on the finish. It becomes balanced, sensually textured and lovely after a couple of days open—and it drinks pretty well.

It may hold for a couple of decades, but I doubt that cellaring this a long time will provide many rewards, but we'll see. In the meanwhile, this graceful and accessible Port is quite lovely this year. Despite being very approachable, it still has a chance to improve. There were 6,405 bottles produced.
