Description

The 1976 growing season in Bordeaux was challenging, with a cooler and wetter spring followed by a moderate summer, producing slightly less concentrated berries than the blockbuster 1975. Nevertheless, Château Batailley’s meticulous vineyard management and traditional vinification techniques allowed the estate to craft a wine of balance and finesse. The vintage exhibits refined structure, moderate tannins, and a distinctive freshness, making it approachable yet age-worthy.

Appearance
In the glass, the 1976 Château Batailley displays a medium garnet colour with soft brick-orange edges, reflecting its age and slow, graceful evolution.

Nose
The bouquet is elegant and layered, offering aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, and dried plum, interwoven with cedar, tobacco, and subtle leather notes. Earthy nuances, graphite, and a touch of spice add complexity and charm without overpowering the fruit.
