Description

The 1982 Château Beaumont is a superb example of mature Haut-Médoc from one of Bordeaux's most legendary vintages. Situated between Margaux and Saint-Julien, Château Beaumont has long been recognised for producing elegant, classically styled wines that offer exceptional value and ageing potential. After more than four decades in bottle, this vintage provides a rare opportunity to experience the complexity and refinement that only mature Bordeaux can deliver.

The history of Château Beaumont dates back to the eighteenth century, and the estate has established a reputation for consistency and quality within the Haut-Médoc appellation. Benefiting from gravelly soils ideally suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the vineyards produce wines that balance structure, fruit concentration and freshness. The outstanding 1982 vintage conditions allowed estates throughout Bordeaux to create wines of remarkable richness, longevity and charm.

The bouquet is beautifully evolved, displaying aromas of dried blackcurrants, cassis and dark plum, layered with notes of cedarwood, tobacco leaf and cigar box. With time in the glass, further nuances of leather, forest floor, truffle and sweet spice emerge, creating a wonderfully complex and inviting aromatic profile.

On the palate, the wine is smooth, harmonious and fully mature. Flavours of dried dark fruits, cedar, tobacco and earthy spice are supported by softened tannins and refreshing acidity. The wine retains impressive balance and elegance, while the long, graceful finish reveals lingering notes of leather, woodland character and mature Médoc complexity.

Now at full maturity, the 1982 Château Beaumont is best enjoyed over the coming years. Carefully decant to remove sediment and serve alongside roast lamb, beef Wellington, game dishes or mature hard cheeses. A classic mature Bordeaux that beautifully captures the character of both Château Beaumont and the exceptional 1982 vintage.
