Château Calon Ségur 2021 – Saint-Estèphe 3ème Cru Classé

The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux produced wines of elegance, freshness and classical balance, and Château Calon Ségur has crafted a refined and beautifully poised Saint-Estèphe that reflects the château’s traditional style.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby colour with purple highlights. The nose is expressive and pure, offering aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry and plum, layered with notes of cedar, graphite, violets and subtle spice.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, precise and harmonious. Fine, polished tannins frame flavours of fresh cassis, raspberry and dark cherry, supported by lively acidity and gentle savoury undertones of tobacco and liquorice. The finish is long, fresh and elegantly structured.

Food pairing: Roast lamb, herb-crusted pork loin, duck breast, veal, and mushroom-based dishes are excellent matches. The wine also pairs beautifully with lighter game and semi-hard cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère, where its freshness and fine structure are shown to best advantage.
