Description
Château Clerc Milon 1997 – Pauillac, 5ème Cru Classé
The 1997 Clerc Milon is a charming, approachable expression of Pauillac from a lighter, earlier-drinking vintage. Now fully mature, it shows a medium garnet colour with soft brick tones at the rim, reflecting its graceful evolution.
The nose is open, elegant and gently savoury, offering aromas of redcurrant, dried cherry and soft black fruit, layered with cedar, tobacco leaf, leather and subtle earthy notes. Hints of graphite, dried herbs and gentle spice add further complexity.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, smooth and harmonious. The tannins are fully resolved, giving a silky texture, while flavours of red berry fruit, plum skin, tea leaf and savoury cedar unfold with balance and clarity. The acidity remains fresh, keeping the wine lively and well composed.
The finish is refined and moderately long, leaving lingering impressions of dried fruit, tobacco and gentle spice. This is a Pauillac that favours elegance over power.
This mature Clerc Milon pairs beautifully with roast lamb, veal, duck, and lighter beef dishes, as well as mushroom-based sauces and classic French preparations. It also works very well with semi-hard and aged cheeses.
A refined, fully mature Pauillac offering balance, charm and classic character. The 1997 Clerc Milon is an excellent choice for drinking now, delivering gentle complexity and smooth, elegant pleasure.
