Description

The 2014 Château Climens is a beautifully refined and classically styled Barsac, showcasing the estate’s hallmark purity and precision. The bouquet is elegant and lifted, with aromas of citrus blossom, apricot, white peach and candied lemon peel, supported by hints of acacia honey, chamomile and gentle spice. It is fragrant and fresh, with an unmistakably graceful profile.

On the palate, the 2014 delivers superb balance. Bright citrus and stone-fruit flavours—orange zest, pear and ripe nectarine—are wrapped in a silky sweetness that is perfectly countered by vibrant acidity. Barsac’s signature minerality runs through the wine, giving it clarity and drive while keeping the richness beautifully in check.

With aeration, the wine develops further layers of complexity: notes of almond cream, light honeycomb, pastry and subtle saffron emerge, adding depth without losing the wine’s elegant, airy character. The texture is polished and harmonious, and the sweetness remains poised rather than opulent.

An exquisitely balanced Climens, the 2014 is drinking wonderfully now but has the energy and structure to age gracefully for many years. Ideal with fruit tarts, blue cheese, foie gras or as a contemplative glass on its own, it captures the finesse and purity that define this great Barsac estate.

Château Climens, classified as a Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is located in Barsac at the heart of the Sauternes region.
