"This is a commendable showing from a difficult vintage, although the ’81 cannot and indeed, should not disguise its herbaceous nose with bay leaf and a touch of stewed black tea. The palate has gritty dry tannins, with touches of leather, cedar-infused black fruit. Nice weight, quite elegant with a touch of orange-zest and even a little sweet mango on the finish."
