Description
Château Mont-Redon is one of the historic estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, its vineyards set on the famed galets roulés plateau that gives the wines their depth and character. First mentioned in Roman times and later part of the Papal lands in the 14th century, the estate was revived in 1923 by Henri Plantin, who reunited its fragmented parcels into a grand domaine. Still family-owned today and guided by the Fabre family, Mont-Redon combines tradition with modern winemaking to craft wines of balance, elegance, and longevity.Appearance: Deep, mature ruby.
Aromas: Rich, tertiary layers—tobacco, dark berries, espresso notes, gamey/spiced roast (venison), forest floor (sous bois), truffle nuances, and earthy minerality.
Palate: Full-bodied yet balanced; elegant and focused. Silky, integrated tannins envelop a polished fruit core, leading to a long, refined finish.
Character: Mature and harmonious, offering depth, sophistication, and elegance—definitely a wine that transcends its hot vintage origins.
Drinkability: At peak maturity around now (2025), but still holding potential through 2030 under proper conditions.
