Description

This 1985 Chianti has developed remarkable maturity and complexity. The bouquet offers aromas of dried cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, and hints of forest floor, with subtle notes of spice and balsamic. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with softened, silky tannins, balanced acidity, and flavours of stewed red fruit, earth, and a gentle touch of cedar. The finish is long, harmonious, and slightly savoury, reflecting the elegance of a well-aged Sangiovese.

Serve at 17 °C (63 °F) after decanting for 30–45 minutes to allow the tertiary aromas to fully express themselves. Pairs beautifully with roasted or braised meats, game, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses such as Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano. It also complements classic Tuscan dishes like pappardelle al cinghiale or ribollita.
