Description
Dalva 1977 Vintage Port
The 1977 vintage is widely regarded as one of the standout declared years of the twentieth century, and Dalva’s example captures the depth and longevity for which the vintage has become renowned.
Now fully mature, the wine shows a deep garnet core fading to a warm brick rim. The nose is generous and expressive, offering aromas of black cherry, plum compote and dried fig, layered with notes of cocoa, cedarwood, tobacco leaf and sweet spice.
On the palate, it retains impressive structure while delivering the silky texture that only decades of careful bottle ageing can bring. Rich flavours of dark berry fruit, raisin and dark chocolate are balanced by freshness and fine-grained tannins. The finish is long, warming and persistent, with lingering spice and dried fruit complexity.
The 1977 vintage continues to offer remarkable drinking pleasure, combining maturity with underlying strength. Decant well to remove sediment and serve slightly cool.
A superb choice for collectors of classic declared vintages, or for marking a special 1977 celebration with a wine of pedigree and enduring character.
