The Domaine de Chevalier is a consistently high performer. The 1998 vintage is no exception receiving excellent reviews and critical acclaim.
This is a classic, finesse-styled Graves. The 1998 Domaine de Chevalier reveals scorched earth, tobacco, and red currant aromas along with rich, elegant, savory flavors, sweet tannin, and better integrated oak than previous vintages have exhibited as well as sweet tannin, a lusty, plush mid-palate and finish, and beautifully sweet fruit that unfolds on the palate in a graceful manner.
*** 87 Points Robert Parker ***
"An excellent effort from Domaine de Chevalier, this dark ruby/purple-coloured 1998 exhibits smoky, tobacco-tinged, earthy scents intermixed with black currant and cherry fruit. There is impressive concentration, medium body, sweet tannin, and a supple, ripe finish. It should be ready to drink early, yet continue to develop further nuances and complexity for 10-15 years. " Robert parker (June 2000)
*** 90-94 Points - James Suckling ***
Classy and refined in style, with firm yet fine tannins, medium to full body and a medium fruity finish. Silky texture.
