Description

The 1999 Ramnista is fully mature and offers a fascinating expression of Xinomavro—complex, savoury, and unmistakably Old World in style. Best enjoyed now, ideally with food, such as lamb, game, or Mediterranean dishes, and particularly appealing to those who appreciate aged Barolo or traditional Rioja.

Appearance
Garnet with noticeable brick-orange edges, showing clear tertiary development.

Nose
Elegant and evolved. Dried cherry, sun-dried tomato, and fig lead, with layers of leather, tobacco, and earthy spice. There’s a distinctive savoury, almost herbal note typical of Xinomavro.

Palate
Medium-bodied with vibrant acidity still holding the wine together. Flavours of dried red fruits, olive, and tomato leaf dominate, supported by fine, resolved tannins. There’s a Burgundian-like structure but with a more rustic, savoury edge.

Finish
Long, tangy, and savoury—lingering notes of dried herbs, spice, and leather.
