Description

Overview:
A mature and refined expression of Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo, this 1976 Lessona from Aziende Agricole Sella comes from one of the region’s most historic estates. Grown on mineral-rich, sandy soils that define the appellation’s distinctive finesse, the wine now shows the graceful evolution expected from nearly five decades of careful bottle ageing.

Appearance:
Garnet-red in colour with brick-orange reflections, showing clear tertiary development and elegant maturity.

Nose:
Delicately aromatic and complex, revealing dried red cherry, rose petal, wild strawberry and gentle spice, layered with leather, tobacco leaf and a distinctive mineral edge typical of Lessona’s terroir. Subtle notes of forest floor and dried herbs emerge with aeration.

Palate:
Poised, elegant and fully evolved, with finely resolved tannins and a lifted acidity that preserves freshness. Flavours of cranberry, orange zest, dried red fruits and subtle truffle unfold over a savoury, mineral-driven backbone, showing both finesse and structure.

Finish:
Long, savoury and beautifully balanced, with lingering notes of dried flowers, spice and mineral nuance.

Decanting:
Stand upright for 2–3 days prior to opening to allow sediment to settle. Decant slowly and carefully through a fine strainer immediately before serving. Fragile corks are common with wines of this age; any cork fragments should be removed during decanting. Best served at 16–18°C.
