Description
The 1969 Palmer Port Colheita (150cl) is an exceptionally rare single-harvest Tawny Port, matured in seasoned oak casks for more than five decades. From a historic late-1960s vintage, this magnum bottling offers not only extraordinary maturity and complexity but also the grandeur of a large format, making it an impressive centrepiece for collectors or for sharing at milestone occasions. Drink now or enjoy over the next decade.
Tasting Notes:
Deep mahogany-tawny with golden edges. The bouquet is intensely evolved, showing aromas of dried figs, dates, roasted chestnuts, caramelised orange peel and subtle hints of coffee and warm spice. The palate is rich and layered, with flavours of toffee, raisin, almond and molasses unfolding in silky harmony. Fresh acidity balances the richness, giving elegance and lift. The finish is exceptionally long, nutty and complex, leaving lingering notes of dried fruits and oak.
Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to drink and require no decanting. Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) to highlight aromatic detail and freshness. This rare magnum of 1969 Colheita is a superb match for roasted nuts, treacle tart, crème brûlée or a fine board of mature cheeses. Once opened, the Port will keep in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.
