Exclusive to Vintage Wine and Port

The 1966 Palmer Port Colheita (75cl) is a truly historic single-harvest Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks for more than five decades. From one of the most celebrated vintages of the 20th century, this Colheita has developed extraordinary maturity, elegance and complexity. Bottled in the traditional 75cl format, it is a perfect choice for collectors, milestone celebrations or those wishing to experience a fine piece of Port history. Drink now or savour over the coming years.

    Tasting Notes:
Deep mahogany-tawny with golden highlights. The bouquet is richly developed, offering aromas of dried figs, dates, roasted chestnuts, caramelised orange peel, coffee and warm spice. The palate is silky and multi-layered, with flavours of raisin, toffee, roasted almond and molasses, balanced by bright acidity that provides freshness to its richness. The finish is exceptionally long, nutty and elegant, leaving lingering impressions of dried fruits and fine oak.

    Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to drink and do not require decanting. Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) to enhance aromatic complexity and freshness. This 1966 Colheita is a magnificent partner for roasted nuts, treacle tart, crème brûlée, fine dark chocolate or a board of mature cheeses. Once opened, the wine will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Please store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.

Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months. Colheita Ports do not require decanting and are best served at a temperature between 14 and 16°C.
