Exclusive to Vintage Wine and Port

The 1970 Palmer Port Colheita (75cl) is a rare single-harvest Tawny Port, aged for over half a century in seasoned oak casks. From one of the most iconic vintages of the 20th century, this exceptional Colheita offers extraordinary maturity, complexity and finesse. Presented in the traditional 75cl format, it is a perfect bottle for collectors and for celebrating life’s most special occasions. Drink now or enjoy over the next decade.

    Tasting Notes:
Deep mahogany-tawny with golden highlights at the rim. The bouquet is layered and mature, with aromas of dried figs, dates, toasted walnuts, caramelised orange peel and hints of coffee and spice. On the palate, flavours of raisin, toffee, roasted almond and molasses unfold with remarkable smoothness. Bright acidity lifts the richness, giving freshness and balance. The finish is long, nutty and elegant, leaving lingering impressions of dried fruit and fine oak.

    Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to enjoy and do not require decanting. Best served slightly chilled (12–14°C) to accentuate aromatic complexity and freshness. This 1970 Colheita pairs beautifully with roasted nuts, treacle tart, dark chocolate desserts or a board of mature cheeses. Once opened, the wine will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.

Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.
