Description
The 2000 Palmer Port Colheita is a rare single-harvest Tawny Port, matured in seasoned oak casks for over two decades to reveal the full character of the millennium vintage. Rich, elegant and complex, this Colheita is drinking beautifully now but will continue to develop in bottle, making it a prized choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Enjoy now or cellar until 2030+.
Tasting Notes:
Amber-tawny with golden glints. The nose shows layers of dried apricot, figs, caramelised nuts, candied orange peel and gentle vanilla spice. On the palate, flavours of toffee, raisin, roasted almond and warm spice are lifted by fresh acidity, bringing vibrancy to the richness. The finish is long, smooth and nutty, with lingering notes of dried fruits and oak.
Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to enjoy and require no decanting. Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) to enhance freshness and aromatic complexity. A wonderful partner to pecan tart, crème caramel, dark chocolate desserts or a board of mature cheeses. Once opened, this Colheita will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.
Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.
Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months.
Colheita Ports do not require decanting
