Description
Warre’s, 2000
Vintage Port
The 2000 vintage marked the first general declaration of the new millennium, producing Vintage Ports of depth, purity and impressive balance. In the Douro, favourable growing conditions delivered ripe, concentrated fruit supported by firm structure and fresh acidity. Warre’s, the oldest British Port house, is renowned for its elegant, slightly drier house style, and the 2000 reflects this tradition with clarity and finesse.
Sourced from prime vineyards in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior — including Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro — Warre’s 2000 combines richness with refinement, offering both early appeal and long-term ageing potential.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby in colour, the nose is expressive and layered. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and ripe plum are intertwined with notes of dark chocolate, violet and subtle spice. On the palate it is full-bodied yet harmonious, with firm, well-integrated tannins supporting flavours of dark berries, cocoa and gentle pepper. The finish is long, elegant and persistent, showing both power and balance in true Warre’s style.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove natural sediment and allow the wine time to breathe before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A classic accompaniment to blue cheeses such as Stilton, dark chocolate desserts or simply savoured on its own.
Summary:
A refined and structured expression from the millennium declaration, Warre’s 2000 Vintage Port offers depth, elegance and the distinctive dry poise that defines this historic house.
