2020 Wine and Port Vintage
Quevedo Port reflects the heart of the Quevedo family, rooted in tradition, innovation, and a deep respect for the Douro Valley. For over 100 years, the family has poured passion and expertise into their craft, with siblings Oscar and Claudia Quevedo leading the charge to balance heritage with modern winemaking.
At the core of Quevedo’s philosophy is a commitment to sustainability and quality. Their 112 hectares of vineyards in São João da Pesqueira are cultivated with care, ensuring each bottle of Quevedo Port captures the unique essence of the Douro Valley. The family believes that great wine is a harmony of nature and craftsmanship.
The launch of the Quevedo Port brand in 1986 marked a bold step forward, as the family transitioned from supplying merchants to sharing their wines directly with the world. Today, Quevedo Port embodies the family’s values of integrity, hard work, and connection, producing ports that are consistently acclaimed for their depth and authenticity.
More than just a wine, Quevedo Port is a testament to a family’s dedication to excellence and their unwavering passion for creating exceptional port wines to be enjoyed for generations.

The 2020 vintage was undoubtedly one of the most challenging in recent history. The Covid pandemic that began in 2019 continued to ravage 2020 with everything from picking, tastings and ultimately sales affected.
Our Wine Expert currently recommends the following wines for this year:
This Year in History: Fun Fact: May 2020 was reported as the sunniest on recent record with 266 hours of sunshine.
Eurovision Winner: CANCELLED!! Covid!
Highest Grossing Film: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train
France: In France, the 2020 Bordeaux vintage was particularly disrupted by the pandemic as Covid put a halt to the normal tastings and events that surround the En Primeur campaign. However, despite the complications that arose from Covid, the Bordeaux vintage is looking surprisingly promising.
Italian: The 2020 vintage in both Tuscany and Piedmont was marked by favorable conditions, leading to high-quality wines with excellent aging potential.
Piedmont
In Piedmont, the year began with rain in May and June, causing irregular fruit set and slightly below-average yields. However, a consistently warm summer allowed grapes to ripen fully, resulting in a timely harvest. The harvested fruit was healthy, producing wines that are elegant and aromatic, with fresh acidity and firm tannins. These characteristics suggest excellent aging potential for the 2020 vintage.
Tuscany
Tuscany experienced a growing season that began with a cool start, followed by a hot, dry summer. These conditions culminated in a favorable harvest period in late September. Early assessments indicate that the 2020 vintage is among the stronger ones since the standout 2016 vintage. Notably, wines like Tignanello have received positive reviews, with the 2020 release priced competitively relative to previous vintages, suggesting potential value for collectors and enthusiasts.
Overall, the 2020 vintage in both regions reflects a combination of favorable weather patterns and careful vineyard management, resulting in wines of high quality and promising longevity.
Portugal: A hot summer and a pandemic led to a small production of very good concentrated wines. The Douro experienced above average temperatures for most of the year with a record July, a worrying sign of global warming. This resulted in harvesting at the end of August - a couple of weeks earlier than usual. Yields are low at the best of times but 2020 produced only a tiny crop of super concentrated grapes. Factor in labour shortages, social distancing logistics issues caused by the pandemic and the production was tiny. Those producers who did produce a vintage Port generally made a stunningly dark, concentrated wine similar to the 2009 vintage. Symington Family released a small quantity of Graham and Warre's Old Vines. Noval declared as did Quevedo and a few others. Notable exceptions were Taylor-Fladgate who produced single quintas that will be released in future years and Sogrape who did not produce a vintage port for Offley, Ferreira or Sandeman.

Vintage Port

Quevedo 2020 Vintage Port
A beautifully concentrated, richly expressive Port from one of the Douro’s most exciting producers.
Crafted during one of the most challenging years in recent memory, this 2020 Vintage Port stands out not only for its depth and structure, but for its sheer character and charm. The 2020 harvest was the smallest of the century in the Douro, and with pandemic-related disruptions affecting both production and manpower, many top houses chose not to declare a vintage at all.
Quevedo did — and with spectacular results.
We first tasted this in April 2022 at the Big Fortified Tasting. …
