Sogno di Bacco, 1961
Umberto Fiore - Riserva
Sogno di Bacco is made from thelong lasting nebbiolo grape. Nebbiolo is a black-skinned red wine grape variety most famous for creating the 'tar and roses' scent of Barolo wines from Piedmont, north-western Italy. The grape's very name is evocative of its home among the misty foothills of the western Alps; the nebbia (Italian for 'fog') after which it is named frequently arrives on early October mornings, when the Nebbiolo harvest is in full swing.

Barolo, 1959
Marchesi di Barolo
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.

Antonio Ferrari *** 97 Points *** Wine Advocate
*** 97 Points *** Wine Advocate
This 1959 Wine from Solaria Jonica wine is an outstanding vintage wine and absolute "must have" for anyone celebrating a special Birthday or anniversary from this year. It is highly recommended by our wine buyer and many leading wine critics.
Review
"No, the vintage date of this wine is not an error. Just released, it is a selection of old-vine Primitivo grown south of Taranto and only now hitting the market. No one seems to know whether the fermentation was stopped by fortifying the wine or if it just stopped on its own as a result of the superlative richness of the must, but the fact remains that, with close to 14% of alcohol, it is as sweet as a great Recioto, a wine which it greatly resembles. …

Spanna, 1958
F.lli Berteletti
Spanna has often been cited by wine experts as one of Italy’s greatest ageing wines. Spanna’s longevity can be attributed, at least in part, to the addition of smaller amounts of less tannic, more acidic grape varieties. Tasting notes: The nose opens up beautifully after about an hour and the wine has gorgeous ripe and sweet fruit, nice acidity, and perfectly softened tannins.

Cantine Antonio Ferrari, 1954
Il Barone 54 - Solaria nr 5 ***
"Antonio Ferrari was convinced that the Apulian vines, in particular the Primitivo, needed very long refinement to develop unique and unattainable notes and nuances. This certainty of his, stubbornly defended against everything and everyone, allows us today to savor wines from ancient and excellent vintages, witnesses of pre-modern viticulture."
"Dense creamy, balanced sweet, vital despite its age. Il Barone 54 – Bitter cocoa, coffee, liquorice, less heroic than the other company wines but still surprising."
