Niepoort Port, 2019

Vintage Port
17/20- Jancis Robinson

This is a Vintage Port with personality and, for Niepoort, richer and riper than previous vintages, but maintains the true essence of a Niepoort Vintage Port; finesse, no exuberance and an overarching balance to the wine that will continue to develop for years to come’

Brilliant appearance with a dark purple rim and concentrated depth of colour. The aroma is fine and subdued with only a hint of primary dark fruits and some spice. The true potential and style of this wine really comes together on the palate with wonderful integration of dark fruits with a grainy tannic structure, pairing volume with amazing balance and elegance and an impressive finish.

Quinta do Noval, 2019

Vinhas Da Marka, Terroir Series
In Individual Case
18.5 pts Vinho Grandes Escolhas

A few years ago, Quinta do Noval concluded an agreement with the Agrellos family for the long-term lease of the Quinta da Marka vineyard, which we had identified as having terroir of exceptional potential for the production of quality wines.

This potential was revealed by the excellent red wines that were produced at Quinta da Marka in the 2019 harvest. These were so remarkable that Noval decided to launch a very limited volume of Vinhas da Marka 2019 from a plot of old vines with 1.45 hectares at the heart of Marka.
These old vines planted in the 1930's are a blend of over 30 different traditional grape varieties.

Quinta do Vesuvio, 2019

Vintage Port

The 2019 Quinta Vintage Ports are the result of an erratic growing season, with a little over 50% of the average winter rainfall in the Douro and almost none in the summer. Fortunately, showers at the end of August helped the grapes achieve more balanced maturations. Head Winemaker, Charles Symington, exercised patience and precisely timed the picking over six weeks – making it one of the longest harvests in recent years. The reward was a collection of perfectly ripe grape varieties in good quantities (averaging 1.27 kg/vine) delivering lively and exuberant wines. This was in contrast to the concentration of the exceptionally small years in 2017 and 2018.

Sandeman, 2019

Vintage Port
Quinta do Seixo
*** Gold Medal IWC 2022 ***
*** Gold Medal Decanter 2022 ***

Tasting Notes Deep ruby in colour, almost opaque. On the nose intense aromas of red and black fruits are married with spicy notes of pepper and ginger, hints of cacao and a subtle stony minerality. Great intensity on the palate, with opulent and firm tannins and a lively acidity which carries the intense flavours onto long and complex finish.

Luís Sottomayor describes the 2019 vintage as “a very good year, with freshness and great balance." Winter and spring were cooler and drier than normal, but April showers replenished water reserves in the soil and helped sustain the vines through the dry summer that followed.

Quevedo, 2018

Vintage Port
150cl Bottle
94 Points - Robert Parker- Wine Advocate

Please note that these are MAGNUM (1.5lt Bottles )

Oscar and Claudia Quevedo have recently declared their 2018 Quevedo Vintage port. This follows their acclaimed 2017 Vintage.

2018 was a roller-coaster of a year with an exceptionally wet spring followed by a summer punctuated by heatwaves. Whilst not a general declaration, the ports we have tasted are excellent. Quevedo, who have a several prime vineyards, each with their own micro-climate, were able to select the best grapes to blend into their vintage and the result is a port worthy of its declaration.

Tasting Notes:
The 2018 Quevedo Vintage port is big and bold on the palate with tons of opulent black fruit.
