The history of J&B begins in 1749 when Giacomo Justerini, from Bologna in Italy, travelled to London to woo the Italian opera singer Margherita Bellino. Failing to win Margherita's heart, he remained in London and set himself up as a wine merchant in fashionable Pall Mall, along with a business partner, George Johnson.

These bottles of Croft 1922 Vintage Port was taken from a house in Halifax associated with the Holdsworth family who were big in textiles at the turn of the 20th Century. The cellar has remained closed for 60 years until the new owners opened it to discover a treasure trove of wines and Ports including many bottles from 1922 and 1947. All of the Port has been undisturbed and stored in cool conditions. The colour is exceptional for wines of this era.

Although the nose displays the seductive, opulent red fruit character which is a familiar feature of Roêda vintage ports, there are also intense, woodland berry aromas which add focus and finesse.
