Description
The Barbaresco DOC 1976 La Spinona Pietri Berutti is a rare historic red wine from the Langhe region in Piedmont, Italy. Produced in the appellation of Barbaresco, it is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, reflecting the traditional Barbaresco style of the 1970s: structured, elegant, and designed for long, slow evolution in bottle.
Tasting notes:
The 1976 vintage is now fully mature and deeply tertiary. The nose opens with aromas of dried rose petals, sour cherry, dried plum, leather, tobacco leaf, and forest floor. With aeration, further complexity emerges, including truffle, earthy tones, dried herbs, cedarwood, and balsamic nuances.
On the palate it is evolved, elegant, and harmonious, with tannins now fully softened and integrated. The natural acidity of Nebbiolo still provides structure and lift, while the fruit has transformed into savory, dried-fruit, and earthy expressions. The finish is long, refined, and gently austere, typical of well-aged Barbaresco from traditional producers.
Serving & food pairing:
Best served at 16–18°C, with very gentle handling and minimal decanting.
It pairs well with:
Braised beef and veal
Game dishes (rabbit, wild boar)
Mushroom risotto
Truffle-based dishes
Aged hard cheeses
Producer:
La Spinona – Pietri Berutti is a historic Langhe estate associated with traditional Barbaresco production. The winery has long been linked to classic Nebbiolo winemaking, focusing on expression of terroir, aging potential, and the refined structure typical of Barbaresco wines from this period.
