Description
Barbaresco 1980 – Corte Staffarda, Riserva Speciale
The 1980 Barbaresco Riserva Speciale from Corte Staffarda is a beautifully mature and elegant expression of Nebbiolo, offering finesse, complexity and classic Piedmontese character after decades of ageing. The colour shows a soft garnet core with amber and brick tones at the rim, reflecting its graceful evolution.
The nose is refined and layered, opening with dried rose petals, red cherry and cranberry, followed by notes of leather, tobacco, forest floor and gentle truffle. Subtle hints of balsamic, orange peel, anise and cedar add further depth and sophistication.
On the palate, the wine is smooth, balanced and beautifully composed. The tannins are fully resolved, creating a silky, harmonious texture, while flavours of dried red fruits, tea leaf, earthy spice and savoury herbal notes unfold with clarity. Bright acidity gives the wine lift and elegance.
The finish is long, refined and quietly persistent, leaving lingering impressions of dried fruit, truffle and soft tobacco. This is a Barbaresco that rewards slow, thoughtful appreciation.
This mature Barbaresco pairs superbly with veal, roasted poultry, mushroom-based dishes and truffle pasta, as well as lighter game and refined risottos. It is also an excellent partner to aged Italian cheeses, where its elegance and balance truly shine.
A graceful, fully mature Barbaresco offering classic Nebbiolo aromatics, refined structure and long, savoury complexity. The 1980 Corte Staffarda Riserva Speciale is a wonderful example of Barbaresco ageing with dignity, harmony and timeless appeal.
